Nurtured by Nature/Animal Educators, Inc. provides sustainable interactions with the wonders of nature and environmentally sustainable breeding conservation programs for several species of reptiles and mammals. We are currently partnering with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Sloth, Anteater, and Armadillo Specialist Group (Fiscal Sponsor and program support), CA Fish & Wildlife (rescue and rehoming of animal confiscations), and many others on global conservation projects. Charitable programs are provided to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Hospice, and others to provide hope and emotional relief to those dealing with difficult circumstances through our interactive otter swim/animal encounters.
Some of the animals in our care include Asian Small-clawed Otters, Two-toed Sloth, Armadillos (Three-banded, Six-banded, Dwarf Hairy), Foxes (Bat-eared, Fennec, & Arctic), Lemurs (Red and Black & White Ruffed, Ringtail), Capybaras, Clouded Leopard, African Crested Porcupine, Eagle Owls, Bald & Golden Eagles, Black-backed Jackals, Paca, Toucan, Kinkajous, and multiple turtle/tortoise and lizard species.
We are currently in the process of finishing construction on our brand new all-weather Make-A-Wish encounter and Public program area to expand our conservation education reach. This portion of our facility has a temperature controlled area for otter swim encounters and a large play yard/lazy river area to provide combined daily enrichment for animals while allowing us to teach more conservation education to guests.
