Chahinkapa Zoo Full-Time Keeper Position
Chahinkapa Zoo located in Wahpeton, ND is looking to hire a hard-working and passionate individual to fill a Full-Time Zookeeper position. Zookeepers at Chahinkapa work with the entire collection ranging from education animals (snakes, geckos, hedgehogs, ect) to numerous primates, including an Orangutan, large cats, African hoof stock (Southern White Rhinos Zebras), domestic hoof stock are to name a few. We are looking for someone that is a team player and will work with other zookeepers to perform animal care duties as well as be able to take initiative to make sure all areas of the job are being fulfilled. Chahinkapa keepers are a fun group to work with and open to any new ideas you may bring.
Duties that are performed but are not limited to include:
-maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in all areas.
-Be responsible for acceptable daily standards in animal care and welfare including exhibit maintenance and species specific diets.
-Observe and interpret animal behavior and report anything out of the ordinary to management.
-Activities require lifting 50lbs, bending, twisting, stooping, carrying, and extensive walking.
-Interacting with the public
This position is 40 hours a week, weekends and holidays required. It also includes a full benefits package.
