Safari Lake Geneva is a conservation park committed to supporting a better future for wildlife in the wild. The park is also home to exotic animals from around the world that are presented in an immersive, educational, and interactive environment. Interns are valuable members of our team and will learn many aspects of animal husbandry and zoological interpretation for the benefit of our guests.

Interns will assist the Safari Lake Geneva staff in fulfilling the mission and objectives of the park. Primary duties include assisting guests entering the park, oversight and upkeep of animal habitats, disseminating information to guests, and facilitating animal interactions. Interns will also be responsible for assisting with animal husbandry, handling admission and retail transactions, and light maintenance and construction.

Interns have the potential to work with a variety of animals (small and large mammals, reptiles, and birds) and to participate in educational programs and outreach. Interns are required to complete a project that benefits Safari Lake Geneva that is completed during the internship period. Interns are supervised by Safari Lake Geneva staff.

Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have completed one year of a college degree program in biology, animal behavior, zoology, education, or related field. Applicants must also have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with people of all ages, and be able to work in a team environment. Candidates must be self-motivated, reliable, prompt, able to lift 50 pounds, and able to work in all weather conditions. Interns will be paid $7.25 per hour and will be receive valuable, hands-on experience with our animals. Interns are required to dedicate, at minimum, 24 hours per week over the course of three months, or 288 total hours. Schedules may be flexible based on the candidate's availability, but preference will be given to weekend and holiday availability. It is advisable to apply as early as possible.
